Doubt they would change it now. New specification is in a year or 2. One thing that I've learnt about examiners is their usually lazy. 1945-51 Atlee gov has come up 3 years in a row in AS History.

also, in this years unit 3 politics paper, all of the questions were repeats except for 1 i think
A bit random, but I was wondering if anyone would be able to clarify which branch of feminism Simone de Beauvoir best fits into. One website described her as a radical, another as a socialist feminist, or is she just one of those thinkers who isn't really classed as anything specific. thanks

Radical
How would you go about planning a Nationalism single doctrine essay?
Would you go by the different strands of thought and explain the differences between them, or would it be better to go through the core values of nationalism and comment on how the different strands feel about each value?

Way I did it was:

Intro: not a single doctrine although core theme for all is nation as sovereign. Many ideologies.

1 Political vs Cultural divide. In Political there is also a further divide:
2 Liberal (main ideas)
3 Post colonial ( main ideas)
4 Conservative (main ideas)
5 Expansionist; (main ideas)

(talk about how italics and bold share ideas)

Conclusion: not a single doctrine as can be seen to split into two clear approaches, which then have different strands.

Enjoy!

Unbelievable thats so good cheers
In Unit 3 it seems as though I waa not thinking straight and did the essay question I did not know so much about, for which I still cannot forgive myself. Anyone know how papers with question choice are marked? Ie are marks for specific questions weighted according to difficulty, which could be reflected by average performance?

do you think feminism will not come up as a 45 marker this year?

Either feminism or ecologism will not come up as a 45 marker this year (I think).

Unfortunately I don't think so. Standard 45 marks with the different AO's. But in my English exam my teacher said that, the harder questions have lower grade boundaries as less people do them. So I'm not too sure :s-smilie:
I'm so worried about ecologism not coming up :frown:
There have only been two papers where they haven't asked it. I could probably do a multiculturalism essay but definitely not a feminism one :s

we didn't do nationalism :frown:
I find ecologism to be the easiest, I can definitely do a 15marker on feminism well but I would struggle on the essay

Nationalism is the easiest for essays its a shame you didn't do it. There is only 5 essay questions that ever come up and 4 of them are the same question e.g forward/backward looking and war/peace.
Do you have any predictions on what will come up in tomorrow's exam? We didn't get taught ecologism and I hate nationalism! So I'm screwed

It looked really good but sadly we didn't get to choose :frown:
what choices did you do for unit 3?
I reckon essays will be 'To what extent is nationalism a single doctrine' and 'feminsim is defined by the belief the personal is the political', not sure about the other essay but the lads Im with think either one of ecologism or feminism won;t come up as an essay

I have no idea , I think its so hard to predict for unit 4
its looking really likely that multiculturalism will come up as an essay though (it been asked the least)
