Azouz Begag is the Minister for equality - he is the only ethnic minority in the French cabinet as far as I'm aware and is one of France's integration success stories: dragged himself up through slum dwellings to become succesful politician/writer. For more info:

Doubt it, the prefix "de" is usually a sign of nobility. Plus I think his Dad was a politician as well.

You're right, he was just born in Morocco.
yup de villepin is pure french...and if you count women in minorities well you might want to talk about segolene Royal, left wing's probable candidate for president in 2007....i guess she's not really ethnic though...
