Is the University of Sheffield good? Some league tables think so, others don't?

Is The University of Sheffield good?

I know league tables aren't the be all and end all, but there seem to be some great differences between where it falls on different league tables.

In the Complete University Guide and The Guardian, it's not even in the top 30.
Compared to the Sunday Times and The Times where it's 18th and 21st?
It's also 66th in the QS World University Rankings above places such as LSE, Durham, Nottingham, Birmingham, St. Andrews, York, Lancaster, Bath, Exeter, Newcastle etc so why is there such a broad difference between how the UK perceives it and how the world perceives it?

Is it a good University?:confused::confused::confused:
Yes, it is a highly respected uni still. It's one of the Russel group universities which are highly respected by employers.
The Times league tables are the ones that employers tend to go off.

I have an offer for Law from Sheffield.
It is a very good university, it is mostly recognized for its work in medicine! Hoping to apply there next year for medicine!!!!
The sunday times and The complete use the exact same criteria but their results are very different and this is because each criteria is weighed differently. Pretty much sums up the flaws in domestic league tables.
