City vs Southampton- make a choice

Hi! I got offers from City, Warwick, Sheffield, Southampton and Lancaster. I incline to choose City or Southampton. The faculty called Information systems (management in South, and Technologies in City)-MSc. So, the problem is that this discipline is at the intersection of management and computer science and IT. Could you recommend me, which is the best one to go to and which will provide more Labor market opportunities in the UK?
Thank you

Hi,

I'm one of the admissions tutors at City (not for the Information Systems and Technology course, though).

The IS&T degree has been running for over thirty years, and is a highly respected degree. Being located in London, and with the industry-focussed, research-intensive pedigree of our institution, we do of course have particularly strong industry ties.

The School of Informatics has a team of six dedicated staff who help students arrange industry placements, and if you do acquire one, that is then used as the basis for your dissertation. The internship thus allows you to gain academic credit and industrial experience. We're choosy about which internship hosts we recommend, and have established links with a number of highly desirable employers. However, we also expect your performance to be good before we allow you to proceed, as we need to maintain a reputation for quality with our established hosts.

City has a long tradition of business computing teaching and research, and we're in the process of recruiting two additional specialist business computing positions at the moment. Clearly, Warwick, Southampton, Lancaster and Sheffield are all great departments. Nonetheless, we've got a strong business focus that is rare, indeed almost unique, in UK computing schools, and as a result a track record of high employability for our MSc graduates (I don't know the IS&T specifics, but the MSc I lead has had no unemployed graduates for several years).

The reason I moved to City is that I have a passion for fundamental research with immediate value to industry, and I believe it is fair to say that that ethos is common across the school.

All the best in making your decision,

George
