I have a feeling disadvantaged will come up again or racism which they have also asked. However they may just ask a straight question on evidence on ethnic inequality which is so much easier so it would just involve everything bringing racial prejudice and discrimination into it as well. The only other thing i can think of is them being specific like economic or material factors etc
They arent allowed to do that... 99% Ethnicity is on this paper !
If Gender comes up with the questions:

Why are women disadvantaged [20]

and

Outline and assess the view that patriarchy is the main cause of gender inequality [40]

I'll be sooooo happy

Lets hope.

Does anybody have any predictions for the methodology research questions? That's what I am finding most difficult... it's just mind numbingly dull

I think some sort of quantitative date not sure specifically what will come up though. I'm just looking at the general strengths and weaknesses of qualitative and quantitative methods as they're all pretty similar for each method so I'm ready for whichever comes up.

Does anyone have an answer for 'What has happened to the middle class?' [20]

I don't see how I could write it referencing to education, workplace, family etc

What would you talk about for
Females advantaged in society?
and
makes disadvantaged in society?

I think to some extent you can use the same knowledge for both of these questions but just flip it. For example you could mention health and say 'Women are advantaged because they have a higher life expectancy - 81 years compared to 76 years for men." Then if you needed to talk about how men are disadvantaged you could say "Men are disadvantaged in society regarding health as their life expectancy is 76 years compared to 81 years for women."
Another health statistic: Years of health 70.3 for women and 67.9 for men.

Topics to discuss:
-Workplace
-Education
-Health
-Media
-Family

I think you only need 4 topics, but you could bring in age, ethnicity and class too! E.g. ethnic minority females are more disadvantaged.

Does anyone have any idea as to what could come up for the 40 mark question? My teacher has said that Changing Class Structure is most likely to come up but I'm not really sure..
If we learn all theories for age, gender and ethnicity (or class) then we are pretty much good to go whichever question comes up yeah?

Research methods are easier than you think! Content analysis, questionnaires and official statistics are the ONLY positivist methods, the rest are interpretivist, and remember if its positivist it's quantitative and if its interpretivists it's qualatitive! (Excuse spelling)

Criticisms/evaluations are where the big marks are at so make sure you know those people! Best of luck x

there's quite a lot you can say for females being advantaged for education (i used my g673 stuff) so stuff like females achieve higher - in 2012 79% of females and 72% males achieved 5A*-C grade at gcse. the design of gcses benefit girls more because they're organised and motivated (harris et al found boys were the opposite) and then use mcrobbie with the bedroom subculture of girls being tightly controlled and staying in their room working. Also boys have innate ability so they're over confident for exams and tend to put their failure down to bad luck not lack of effort

for employment you can talk about the crisis of masculinity, dual labour market theory (barron and norris) females having expressive roles which is a reason why 40% out of 45% who make up the workforce work part time. the glass ceiling too! (these are male advantages though)

and for income and wealth you can mention walbys structures of patriarchy, the triple shift, maternity/paternity pay.

these are just the ones that i've done but i hope that helped a bit:smile:

p.s my teacher went to this ocr conference thing and you can mention stuff you've said in your 20 marker in your 40 marker. & you dont need a ton of stats, studies are just as good!

See my past posts on this thread, I did essay structures for every single question.

Patriarchy has already came up, however socialisation has not came up yet which indicates liberal feminism  nor has any sociological perspectives of gender inequality instead of feminist explanations.

my teacher taught it me this way -

1. outline the method
2. say why it was the most suitable to use(link to source and question)
3. advantages of the method
4. disadvantages of the method
5. theory (so if it is quantitative - positivists and evaluate with interpretivists, include realism too)
6. advans and disadvans of data (either quan or qual unless the method provides both)
7. say why you could have done better ( basically our teacher said criticise the method they used she said they would give you a method which can be easily criticised and then conclude:smile:
i hope that helped

What I found is that they never repeat research methods between the 15 mark and 25 mark.

I made a concise list of what hasn't been on:
Covert obs, participant obs, structured obs, non-participant obs, structured interviews, focus group interviews, pilot studies, content analyses, personal documents, longitudinal studies, all 3 types of random/probability sampling, every type of non-random sampling except snowball sampling, access, positivist methodology, interpretivist methodology, feminist methodology and realist methodology.
