Interrailing for 16 yr olds - Seats or Couchettes?

Never really been on many trains before but going interrailing - 5 travel days in 10 days - with two friends (also 16 years old) across Europe this summer through France, Germany, Austria and Italy. For all except one of the trains, we'll be going overnight, and it seems very tempting to just book a seat reservation as opposed to the more expensive couchettes (sleeper compartments being waaay out of our budget of £600 each!). Obviously, due to our age, our main concern with seats would be security rather than comfort, but is there anything actually wrong with them?
There's nothing wrong with sleeper seats, but it's busy and uncomfortable.

General comment though, are you doing four countries in ten days? That's a lot crammed into a short space of time.

We take about 9 days to visit Paris, Munich, Vienna and Venice before arriving in the south of Italy where we can stay for free for a week with some people

Verdict
We were so exhausted by the end of each day that it didn't matter how uncomfortable they were! As a rough guide to comfort:
Most comfortable to least
ÖBB
City Night Line
TrenItalia
