Motivation to study politics?

Hey, I'd love to apply for a place on a politics/international relations course this year but I'm a little stuck on writing my personal statement! I've already done a few drafts but somehow I'm never happy with the part where I have to talk about my motivation to study my chosen subject. Of course I find it really interesting, but obviously that's not good enough! Do you have any ideas what else I could write? Anyone who has already applied to a politics/IR course or anyone who can think of something, please reply! I'd really appreciate it!
Only you know why you want to study it, why are you interested in it? what type of politics do you must enjoy? Democratic? international? political theory?

you could think about career paths

relate to how politics has personally affected you - ie uni fee increase etc.

Good luck
What is it that interests you about politics? What is the purpose of 'politics'? How does it work?

Hint - Politics is 'the interaction of power relationships'. It works on all levels and isnt just something that happens in parliament.
