Applying To Medical School Parents Can Help!

Applying to medical school can be difficult and confusing! True it is possible (and essential) to wade through the prospectus of the chosen medical school and ensure that the boxes are ticked for grades etc. But there is more that your son and daughter can do with your support and the key is for them to prepare early. One of the best ways for them to focus their efforts is to start a blog. This offers them a space where they can organise their thoughts, share their reading and achievements and reach out to others. A big mistake often made is to bundle all of their efforts into the last few weeks before they offer up their UCAS form. Please encourage your children to find out what others have done and how you measure up to them by reading their blogs. For example Louise offers superb post on winning a place to Cambridge Medical School (which shows we have no bias to Durham!): http://bit.ly/1c9H1HF Esha’s blog showing how you should think and write about topics that could come up in interview: http://bit.ly/1bIlBji or Eliza talking about her visit to Birmingham medical school: http://bit.ly/1i1EAOt We understand that Medlink will be offering a free review of all the medical schools including admission criteria early in January, take advantage of this and other free resources to prepare early, it is a key to a successful application.
