Could you please re-write using coherent English......

It's not my job to teach you how to read.

There are many primary schools in this country whereby a significant number of kids do not speak English. It therefore stands to reason the teacher has to spend more time trying to "teach" to kids who cannot speak English.

It also stands to reason that many of these schools are located in poorer areas.

Why do we allow the above situation to destroy the education of kids in poorer areas?

Funny remarks, it's these people who apparently can't speak English that regularly outperform the ones that claim to be British.

I see that some people cannot provide valid criticisms....... just pathetic responses.

That doesn't counter my point.......

I am saying the education of British kids is compromised because we spend resources on immigrant children who don't speak English.

You telling me immigrant kids outperform British kids doesn't make my opening post wrong...... (have a think about it)

I'm staggered by the stupidity in this thread displayed by certain members. Here's a 101 on Economics:

DfE have £100bn to spend on education. Two scenarios:

1) All kids in school can speak English

2) Some kids in school cannot speak English

In scenario 1 no resources have to be wasted giving special treatment to kids who cannot speak English.

In scenario 2 resources do have to be spent giving special treatment to kids who cannot speak English.

In scenario 1 more resources are available for the "mainstream" teaching because resources do not need to be diverted to give immigrant kids special English lessons.

Not rocket science was it?
In my opinion immigrants always perform better and get better grades than the natives

you really are part of the stupid pack.

If the immigrant kids outperform the British kids, then the teachers will be wasting time teaching easy concepts to the British kids while the smart kids wait around bored.

Well, onw of the asnwer would be to reduce immigration. But than again it is not political correct.

But the British teachers paid by the British taxpayer teaching the offspring of the British are there to focus on.... the British kids......

If a group of genius Chinese kids turn up- do I really care whether they sit bored in a classroom? No

However if resources are diverted away from British kids to teach immigrants the language they should already know are we bothered- yes.

Even if there are immigrant parents' taxpayers money also being thrown into the mix?

You should. Those kids will end up becoming great entrepreneurs for Britain and making tons of money and employing lots of British people.

How do they learn the language if not in a classroom?

The type of immigrant kids who dont speak English dont speak English because their parents dont speak English. If their parents dont speak English its very unlikely they pay tax.

I actually knew kids like this and they just get on with their own thing.

How did the British kids learn it? From their parents- why do the immigrant kids not know English? Because their parents dont know English. Why are we allowing adults to come to this country who don't speak English?

Do you have a statistical breakdown of the language makeup of the UK workforce to demonstrate that claim?

Anecdotal. They'll have an education anyway and contribute to the economy like anybody else.

You're saying all kids go into their first year of school with perfect grasp of English? Gor blimey. Then why was I taught English for over a decade at school?

No- I have very good common sense. No English = crap/no job.

Where did I say that?

I said British kids learn English from their parents, asked why can't immigrants do the same thing and then concluded (correctly) they cannot because their parents dont speak English. I then asked why do we admit adults in to this country who cannot speak English. Care to answer?
It sucks for the native English speaking kids in these schools but then again do we really want growing ghettos of immigrant offspring who are as poor at English as their parents.

I think teaching them up in English simply takes the longer term view. Better to have some kids fall behind but all have some English ability than have language divide our urban centers further.
As a leftie- socialist progressive...

I agree, to a cetrtain extent.

Quite a lot of my friends and family are involved in the education sector, and for them it is a big problem; many immigrant children often speak very little english. In one primary class my friend taught, around half could not speak English, which obviously is a massive problem.

And this IMHO is due to the abject failure of "multiculturalism", which isn't actually the cosmopolitan ideal, but rather placing large groups of the same ethnicity in the same place- case in point my step father is chinese, much of his family live in china town in london- they do not need to speak english because everyone they know and speak to speaks mandarin! (I should add that their children speak perfect english!)

To sum it up, if you wish to live in a country it is your duty to speak that countries language, and that goes to the brits living in Spain to!
I think there isn't really another option. Pupils that don't speak English probably do have a negative impact on others in the class, but what can anyone do about it? I think some schools separate non-english speaking pupils until they have learnt the language properly, but they probably struggle with having enough money for this. Not letting immigrant children have a proper education would have much worse concequences.

The irony, speak but not write. To whom does the language belong?

The people who inherited it.
