S2 help please

I need help finding e median: q)7)f)

If equate 0.5 to the CDF then I'll get a cubic is there another way to do it?

Also I found out that the mode is 2.5 and the mean is 2.5

if the answer to the previous part was 0.5 then the Median must be 2.5...

Why?

And say if I didn't know that the mean and mode were 0.5 then would the only way to find the mean be to solve the cubic?

Well, what's the definition of median? So why does it have to be 2.5?

The mean is defined as E(X) for a continuous distribution so you would find that by integration as you did in the first part of the question. Similarly you should have a rule for calculating mode for a continous distribution.

Is it because the distribution goes from 1 to 4 so the median is 2.5?

No, I repeat my previous question: what's the definition of median?

Given this definition, if you're dealing with a continuous distribution with median M, what can you say about

P(x < M) and P(x > M)?
