Why are piercings considered attractive?

I was watching a documentary about the Zo'é people who all wear poturas form about the age of eight upwards. A commenter commented saying how it was unnatractive, weird and a health hazard. But what's the difference with a piercing?

Both a piercing and a potura is a man made object to be inserted through unnaturally made holes in the skin. Why is a potura considered ugly and 'just wrong' when a piercing isn't?

When I see a heavily pierced male or female, I think "Wow, they must be into the same sort of music/stuff/interests as me". Piercings and tattoos sort of unite people, make them part of a group. I have a stretched ear and alternative hairstyle and many say "I thought you were into rock music" just because of how I look. I find people with piercings attractive as I may have things in common with them. That's sort of it really!
Piercings tatoos n dyed hair all fit a stereotype that I don't like...
I'm not a fan of piercing but belly piercing is quite nice

That potura looks so stupid.

It's called fashion in that country, and yes you won't be attracted to pierced people but some people are
