Mixed. My sister went same sex and regretted it instantly. I think it's normal and healthy to live and socialise with both genders, unless you have a particular reason for not wanting to.

What was your sisters experience like with same sex?

I'm not sure if I want to be mixed because I've grown up with 2 older brothers who are total slobs and have spent way too much of my time cleaning up after them. Don't want to be doing that all over again when I move away for uni.

But then I'm also a bit put off same sex because a bunch of randomly selected girls all lumped together for a year has the potential for a lot of bitchiness. I tend to get along better with guys for this reason.

Did you go and look at either of them?? I only saw Shackleton on the tour (which is far too expensive) and have firmed TC and JH purely because friends have told me that they have an amazing vibe...

Haven't seen them, the only hall I've looked at is Mason

I'm going the accommodation day though! I hope I get Tennis Courts

I went to an all girls high school, and it was so bitchy! Plus, as I was in school with girls for 5 years when I moved to my mixed college mixing with boys again was harder, because I was so used to have mainly girl friends

The choice is up to you, I just feel that mixed reflects society more and will open up your social circle

My sister used to be very shy so she chose to live with all girls purely for this reason. However, it turned out that a lot of the girls were extremely spoilt and she ended up doing most of the house work and cleaning because she was nice about it.
It's true that my brother is also far more lazy than me or my sister, but I have been to stay with many friends who live in mixed sexed halls and most of the boys they live with are lovely and sometimes even more tidy than the girls. Mixed sex halls seem to be a much more relaxed and fun environment overall imo :-)

I've just firmed Birmingham for English and American/Canadian studies :-) Has anyone applied for accommodation at Tennis Courts or Jaratt Hall?

I've also just firmed- accept I've applied for History and Politics. I put Tennis Courts first and Jaratt Hall second. Even though Jaratt Hall isn't on the Vale I saw it and my applicant visit day and it was really nice (not to mention cheaper) and its only 5mins from the uni so I might make it my first option

What were the kitchens like at Jarratt Hall? And is it true their rooms are quite big there?

I thought the rooms were a really good size at Jarratt (I saw the standard sized room as well as the large ones). The kitchen was also really nice and a good size. Also the kitchens in the process of being refurbished, but I didn't see the refurbished ones and I still thought it was nice.

Anyone know why Tennis Courts en-suites have all been taken? Is it possible to still get one?

It seems to say in the offer holder guide that they've been reserved for a group booking...whatever that means ha

It's really annoying because I think I would put that as my first choice because it's close to main campus and known as the party place

I know - I would much prefer en suite but if it's gonna save me money and I'm still living in the best halls then I don't mind that much :-)

Awh awesome we could be room mates!! Ooh that sounds exciting  I'm not sure as I've already seen the Vale and Shakleton and know I definitely want to be on the Vale with self catered and ensuit so Mason seems like the only option?
