NHS Occupational Health check

Got a quick question:

I've landed a job as a mental health support worker with the NHS, am still waiting on my DBS check back, and have an occupational health check on June 10th. Does this mean I'll definitely be starting no earlier than after that check, i.e. June 10th or later?

Thanks for any answers.
Congratulations! I miss working in Mental Health. Which client group will you be working with? Are you looking forward to it? Yeah you have to wait until your Occupational Health Check has cleared before you start your job x

Thanks for the info. :yy: Yeah, I'm really looking forward to it (although slightly apprehensive about working nights!), I'll be on an acute ward and I think it'll be really interesting work.

You're welcome! Ahhh, talking of nights, I have a couple starting tomorrow night. You'll be fine, I'm sure you'll enjoy it once you get used to it. Have you worked in Mental Health before or studied anything relating to it? x

I've never worked in MH, but I've got way too much personal experience! Long-term goal is to become an occupational therapist, hopefully specialising in mental health (having been through the system myself, as well as watching friends go through it, I really hope I can make a contribution to improving how mentally ill people are treated in the NHS ).

Have fun on your night shifts!
Depends on the job role, if they really want you in quick they'll bypass OH.

Best of luck with the new job, you'll be awesome Wolfy!

Thanks KMN!

Also, your DBS - our Trust can't start new starters without that in place so you may want to just double check what their procedure is just in case it's not back before your OH check.

Trust me, it happens  they can take up to 4 months...

I know right! - for my volunteering it took over three months. :woo: And yeah, I think it's the same here - need the DBS back first. :ashamed:
