Postal rule | Communication of acceptance

Hey to all the Law students out there. Hope the year has gone well and you are all ready for your final exams. (I'm certainly not!)

I've got a question on the postal rule and communication to from offeree to offeror. If somebody makes an offer on an invitation to treat advertisement in a store and then goes on to send a letter alongside a cheque stating he will collect next monday, is that reasonable acceptance of the offer? Would the postal rule be valid in this case, or would it be more reasonable for them to go back into the store to accept the offer and give them the cheque etc.

Its late and my mind is not working haha!

Cheers for anyone thats alive, awake and can help.
