Good and bad things about having Aspergers?

Yes. One issue (I didn't realise this until a friend mentioned this!) that I'm sure is why I struggle with English, is because I take everything literally...

OMG I have the same problem! I don't have trouble structuring and writing an essay, but I find it hard to analyse quotes and work out character's intentions. Also, in English Lang, it's so hard to work out the author's tone and goal... :frown::mad::afraid::ashamed::bricks:

Yes, many.., A lot of people with the condition find it very hard to socialise, and understand people, which eventually leads to social anxiety, and depression :frown: We also find a strong correlation with Aspergers/Autism and OCD, due to liking and finding comfort in routine and neatness. A lot of us are sensitive to touch, and don't like to be touched, forming a phobia of people, which also links to OCD... People with an ASD are also prone to developing an eating disorder, and self harm :frown:

Is there any correlation between Aspergers/autism and other conditions/health problems?

I was referred to CAHMS by my Head of Year in 2013 (I was 14), and I met with a doctor there twice, before she referred me to GOSH, where I participated in numerous tests, and interviews (as did my Mother and teachers). The whole process took around a year, due to apointments having long time periods between eachother...

When and how did you get diagnosed?

Wow, that sounds tough. :frown: If you were to have children, would your condition be likely to affect them? Also, do you take any medication?

Pros:
I find comfort in things that are close to me) E.g stones/lego/blankets
I have an interesting way of interpreting things and thinking about solutions to problems. For example, I asked my mum if there were vegetables that made you happy (because onions make you sad)
I'm blunt. I say the obvious, and often point out what people are thinking, and people find it mildly funny!

Cons:
Hard to make friends
People don't understand me
I found school hard because teachers thought was just rude...
There are too many cons, but you adapt and get used to them
I don't like people, so I avoid busy places and people get annoyed.
I have one-sided conversations and people think I'm selfish.
When I told my ex-friends they didn't even bother to ask me what Asperger's was or even Google it.................................

No, I don't take any medication. Fortunately, I do not have any of the other health conditions (OCD etc...). I'm Asexual, but if I ever did have a child, I hope the child would be happy, and healthy. My child would have a safe, and loving home and would never be in any danger. But alas, for there is a high chance my child could also have Asperger's/HFA too... Is it moral for me to have a child? Many people would argue no, but I know that I am capable of looking after children

That's good then; it would have been even tougher to have other conditions on top of Asperger's. I would personally think there's no moral reason for someone with your condition not to have children. Yes, the child is likely to have the problem passed on to them but as you said, they would have a loving home and love is the most important gift a parent can give to a child.
