Bostock and Chandler books for a2 edexcel

Hi, I've just started A2 Maths and I am aiming for an A*. I have the pdf versions of the official C3 and C4 textbooks but I have seen the Bostock and Chandler books mentioned a lot on TSR. Which edition is the best one to buy? I will also do S1 for A2 but I'm just sticking to Examsolutions for that.

couldn't find that exact conversation using the search but i did see you mentioned something about buying the oldest Bostock and chandler book, which one of these is the one you were referring to?

I'm also going to borrow the black Longman edexcel maths textbook from school, any good?

look at the last few post here

i have the black longman book for as and its very goood
I would say its second to Chandler's book

Thanks, how come you recommend those ones specifically over the ones I linked? Is there a difference between them?

Also, there was another book you linked in the other thread, "Applied Mathematics". That's for Statistics and Mechanics right?

These 4 books are well know classics, that every serious maths/student/mathematician should have copies.

(Applied is only mechanics)

I have Chandler's book the best

Second to it in equal respect is Backhouse pure maths which i have

The best for alevel textbook designed for the course is the long man series it has extension questions on the cd room

check out the threads i start most of the questions are from the as long man extension material

i would day buy chandler if you want to do step or do mat or any advanced maths and gain deeper understanding its a great book to use

i am going to purchase the a2

the cd rom has a live player application which highlights examples
but the gems of the cd rom is the worksheets in it
it comes in pdf files
the first being the acceleration worksheet which is suppose to help you understand more about the subject
the second is the extension worksheet which is very god for students who want to aim high and honestly if you think you aced a subject it gives you a reality check
the last is the test yourself worksheet which is very goood

Hi! Sorry to bring up an old thread but did you get the book in the end? I'm also doing A2 maths (NOT further maths tho) so which B&C book is suitable?
Is it the Core maths or Pure maths book?
