Is crystallisation/re-crystallisation in our course?

Also what are the techniques involved in reflux?

Keep in mind that i'm asking both these question in light of Unit 3b .

crystallisation/re-crystallisation<<< taken out

reflux - heat until all the contents are oxidised<<< i think this is the only thing u need to know... cuz u know.... primary alcohol>>aldehyde>>carboxylic acid

so the contents drip back down from the condenser until everything is refluxed.

test with PCI5 afterwards to check if any alcohol remains. not for tertiary alcohols tho.

Firstly, total oxidation of the contents is not relevant to reflux.

Secondly, PCl5 is useless if you are oxidising a primary alcohol as a positive result will be observed for a carboxylic acid.

Lastly, under what circumstances would you attempt to oxidise a tertiary alcohol in a reflux condenser?
