What is your favourite "foreign" food?

These are Britain's favourite "foreign" foods, apparently:

1. Spaghetti bolognese
2. Meat lasagne
3. Chilli con carne
4. Pasta and homemade sauce
5. Fajitas
6. Chicken/lamb tikka masala
7. Vegetable stir fry
8. Sweet and sour chicken
9. Spaghetti carbonara
10. Chicken chow mein

To be honest, I think we've pretty much co-opted everything on this list as British. I'm outraged that there isn't a curry at no. 1!

Anyone enjoy anything more adventurous? Recently learnt how to make my own tofu katsu curry (japanese) which is MUCHO DELISH.

Chicken Tikka Masala is not foreign.

For me Mexican or Caribbean food. Tacos, Mole, Huevos Rancheros etc... lovely and v. fun to cook. Did saltfish fritters w/ rice & peas a while back which was nice.

Argentine/Uruguayan cuisine is good too, Mate, Terere, Empanadas, Tortas Fritas. I want to make Locro, but:

Typically locro is made using a specific kind of potato called “papa chola”, which has a unique taste and is difficult to find outside of its home region.

Spaghetti carbonara.

I do prefer it the 'traditional' way though, with just egg yolk (and bacon/ham) rather than cream as well.
Most of those dishes are as English as William the Conqueror.

Yes, love most curries tbh.

My favourite "Indian" food though would have to be a naan (cooked in a tandoor not a packet one you can get in a supermarket)
Pizza.
Sushi :sogood:
Crispy seaweed. :sogood:
Pain au chocolat.

Plus a bunch of others that I can't think of right now.

Lol at British people who actually think Spaghetti Bolognese is a foreign food.
1. Pizza
2. Naan bread
3. Chow mein
4. Indian curry, say Rogan Josh
5. Dolmades
6. Lasagne
7. French bread
8. Paella
9. Pitta bread and hummus (and tzatziki and some black olives)
10. Fajitas
Dim sum

British didn't invent ragu sauce, and they didn't invent spaghetti, did they? They may have put them together, but I wouldn't consider it a British dish.

If you follow that logic anything which isn't roast beef and a pile of potatoes is exotic foreign cuisine.
Lamb tagine with prunes and couscous.
