Life outside of a levels ...

Hello the people of TSR!

I am taking maths, further maths, chemistry and physics next year to begin sixth form life.
I have a job, waitressing and my boss said he could work around me, I also play football 2 times a week for a team (takes up about 5 hours of my life a week).

Do you think I can do both in year 12 - I usually work about 8 hours a week.

Anyone else with a similar problem.
Will I have the time ?
Should I give up something or what?!

You could begin to learn parts of your maths and further maths course now which will free up loads of time during the year; I did this before I started A2 and essentially had no maths homework for about 3 months as I had already completed it during the summer. Not only will you gain free time you will also be far ahead and have more time to revise come exam season. Win/win in my opinion

As long as you are organised, you will be fine and be able to cope.
During both 6TH form and college, i worked 15-20 hours a week, volunteered with my local brownie group and kept up to date with my work.

That's a LOT of extra curricular... How did you cope!

I have just finished my AS and I took those 4 subjects exactly....

I am currently competing at a very high level in karate and train 5 times a week every week.
I also have a job for 3 hrs a week tutoring kids maths for 1 hr each.
I am predicted 4 As on results day.

As long as you organise your time well you don't have to give anything up.
What I would advise is if you don't enjoy something you're doing don't let that take up your time that could be used more productively

Also, don't think you can get away with not doing some work because you have a club or your job, always put the subjects first and everything else after, although you shouldn't have to give anything up entirely you may have to miss a few training sessions here and there, or reduce your work hours slightly

Basically, if you genuinely enjoy everything you're doing you will make time, if you don't then you need to get rid

I worked 10 hours a week, also gym 6 times a week which is 7 hours.
Manage your team effectively.

Essentially did the same subjects (bio instead of fm), had a 14 hour weekend job and was a captain of a netball team (2hrs training + up to 2hrs match play/week) plus did other things in spare time like rounders and etc and still had time to socialise. Most people do this kind of thing in year 12, it's the norm and you'll be fine

Most people have a job at least in the AS year. If you only do 8 hrs a week it's definitely doable; I know it was for me.

The football should definitely be fine for the first term, but maybe stop it later in the year if you plan on doing really well ?
Some people decide to have leave from their work during exam periods and most employers are ok with doing that
