I wouldn't say he was particularly sexist, just honest. He made it clear that the problem lies within the laws/legislation, it's not about the gender in and of itself.

Probably as there already exists legislation which can be seen to make them less attractive. It isn't cut-and-dried but that's how I'd interpret it, rather than him having anything against women. To be honest though the comments are somewhat unprofessional to make and I agree that it isn't exactly unreasonable, and certainly not libellous, for you to call him out on facebook.
