Colonoscopy: Sedation or Entonox (Gas and Air) ?

Hi there,

I'm having my colonoscopy tomorrow and I was wondering which is better to have - sedation or Gas and Air?

I have to have Entonox (Gas and Air) because nobody in my family can attend the clinic with me, as they are busy, and sedation requires someone to look after you for 24 hours, so I'm going alone by bus.

Would it be too painful to just have Entonox? I start taking the Moviprep laxative at 5pm today too.. I'm absolutely starving, but I know I can't eat anything. I'm just drinking lots and lots of water. I'm 17 years old.

Please could you post your experience of having a Colonoscopy? I would be forever grateful as I am feeling quite anxious.

I've just started drinking the Moviprep and it's absolutely disgusting.
