Which is better, Nottingham or Surrey ?

For the Biosciences, particularly Nutrition & Dietetics.

keep in mind that Nottingham would be the SB campus, not the main one.

I like both courses very much, but the Notts one provides a undergraduate masters in the same number of years, though I thin I prefer the structure of Surrey's.

Nottingham is catered, but Surrey is in a nice area much further from home (I'm 15 mins away from the SB campus) so I could get the 'full experience'.

Surrey's Nutrition dept. is larger, and they specialise in my particular research interests, Nottingham's course is smaller and more informal, with a more varied, yet much less optional course content.

Surrey is performing alot higher on student satisfaction and the league tables, Notingham is RG and ranks higher internationally.

I kind of want to start a new life for myself though, specialising in the science that I so much enjoy. being at Nottingham, likely with many people from my area and school (of which I have had VERY bad experiences, might weigh me down)

Also, to throw a spanner into the mix there is KCL. KCL is more city based, which I dislike, I also vastly prefer the structure of Surrey and Nottingham's course, though KCL ranks the highest internationally.

Thoughts?

This is a very personal decision and it looks like you've put a lot of thought into it. You've clearly thought about what is important to you and how the courses weigh up. The undergrad masters doesn't necessarily mean that you won't need to do any postgrad training. Also flexibility is important if you want to explore other interests but equally if you know what your research interests are it's key to be somewhere that caters for that. It may be worth having a look on TSR connect for people at the unis who do the courses to help with your decision.

Hello there,
I am an international student aspiring to study my undergraduate course in dietetics.
I am fortunate to get offers from Notts and Surrey for Sept 23 intake.
Notts is offering Integrated Masters MNutr, whereas Surrey offers BSc (Hons).
Both are 4 years course. Fee wise, Notts is 10% higher than Surrey.
I would appreciate if any student was in a similar situation before and which university out of the two, is best for Dietetics.

Hi Aleve,
I too am in a similar situation as I have both offers from Notts and Surrey for dietetics.
Notts offering 4 yrs integrated masters whereas Surrey is offering 4 yrs BSc.
I would really like to know what was your experience?
Regards- Diya
