yeah i know.. but still one of the best bands in the thread so far!

Agreed, but I think they're one of the best bands around at the moment, so it's not that surprising
They are great.. but so far removed from what i ususally listen too that i cant place them on the same scale!
I dont like Strawberry Jam as much as Sung Tongs, Feels or even Spirit.. but it also depends entirely on my mood.

And I will stres Evangelicals. If you like Animal Collective, you will most definitely like them too.

Anyone heard the new AC songs they're playing live? There are a bunch of them, all ****ing brilliant. The next album's going to be a masterpeice

What does success and being well known have to do with how good a band is?

In conventional terms, success means a band is good as many people like them, hence being well known.

I gain no enjoyment from the Libertines, however.

Technically, success does not always mean a band is brilliant, as you are trying to suggest. I dislike the Libs, so they can't be 'all that good'; meanwhile, groups like The Shaggs are totally atonal and aren't ''good'' in the conventional sense, yet I still gain enjoyment there.

"Good", is subjective. So, while you might think the Libertines are good, I may not.

I don't really have any obscure bands that no-ones heard of really

I like Our Lady Peace.

I bloody love Ozric Tentacles!

Blood Money, the Tom Waits album is one of the best records I've ever heard too
Also, Tapes 'n Tapes. The Loon is an amazing album. New album next month

If you like that kinda stuff, check out Circulus, they're fantastic - completely mad but a wonderful band.
