Hello everyone,
I applied for medicine starting 2008 and unfortunately got complete rejections from Edinburgh, Newcastle, Bristol and Cardiff.
My main let down was my GCSEs, I got 5As 4Bs and a GNVQ lvl 2. Fair enough, back then I wasn't planning my life ahead of me. I didn't know that I wanted to take a subject where the average GCSE level was extremely high.
I will get three 'A' A-levels in Bio, Chem and Maths and have an 'A' AS-level in psychology. I will apply next year with plenty more work experience and non-academic achievements, I'm determined to. However will my GCSE grades always let me down? It seems a bit pointless to retake GCSEs just to get A*'s when I will have A's in much harder qualifications thus proving my academic ability.
I understand that they looked at my GCSEs a lot because they were my last proper qualifications when I applied this year. Just want to know if they have a substantial effect next time round?
Thank you for your time.
Chris
