spanish civil war?

Can anybody help me, Im writing an essay about desperation/survival during the spanish civil war and I was wondering what exactly was made illegal during these times.

I have heard that academic qualificaltions given out during the war were anuled and something about marrage licences/divorces not being valid.

Does anybody know exactly what happened? I don't need much detail but just a few precised facts.
