German student wants to apply in the UK

Hey,
Im Andreas from Bremen (which is located in the north of Germany ;-) ) and im seriously thinking about applying for uni 2009 in the UK.
This year I took my school leaving exams (German Abitur) and finished with the grade 1,0 (which is actually the best you can get on a scale from 1,0 to 4,0). Now I have to do my alternative civilian service (instead of going to the army); thats why I cant apply for 2008 entry.

As Im very interested in politics Im considering
PPE at Oxford
History&Politics at Oxford
Government at LSE
International Relations at LSE
International Relations at St. Andrews
EPSP at UCL

Later I would love to work for the government, for the EU, or even try to run for some office myself^^

Well now if got some questions and I would be happy if someone has some answers for me...
- What can I expect from Government at LSE? Is it that I would learn much about political theory and stuff and analyse politics... so is it kind of very theoretical... or does one also learn how to actually "make" politics?
- Generally do you think a have a chance at the unis listed above?
- And has anyone a recommendation for a "save" choice for me?
