Hey @saffronbluebell,

I'm a 2nd year student on the Fashion History and Theory BA at CSM so if you have any questions regarding the course then please do not hesitate to ask.

Good Luck!

Hi! Can I ask what the course is like? and how academic is it / how you find being an essay subject at an arts school? I've sort of applied blind!

hi, i'm taking the IB program in Japan! I applied to the foundation course for international preparation for fashion at LCF and I want to study styling after:smile: my interview is on the 5th of December but did anyone already do theirs? i have to submit my portfolio online this Friday but I'm not even close to finishing... (also for anyone applying to LCF for fashion media courses: do you guys have a sketchbook?? and what kind of work did u add in ur portfolio??)
Hey all! I'm thinking to apply to UAL for fashion design and I'm currently in year 12, I was wondering if my GCSE grades and IB subject choices are ok?
GCSEs: 9988888777
IB subjects: HL - English, Art, Global Politics and SL - Latin, Maths, Biology
Also for the portfolio, does it have to be a collection from many years (ie year 7-current) because I didn't really do art in year 10/11 because I didn't do it at GCSE but I did some fashion illustrations during year 11.

Hello fiastudies,

In terms of subjects it would be preferable that you study something related such as Art & Design, or Textile Design, as the decisions will be made primarily on your portfolio. This will need to be recent work, usually made within the last year. If you're worried about getting work together for a portfolio, I recommend you study a Foundation Diploma first, and this will help you get your body of work up to apply for Fashion Design.

All the best!

Ah ok thank you for clearing that up! I am looking forward to applying to LCF or CSM next year
I missed the open day but i know that i want to go to one of the UAL unis. I’ve heard that there’s a difference between the styles of art between the fine art course at each university but I don’t know what they are. I only know that goldsmiths is supposed to be more modernist/ contemporary? Lmk if I’m hallucinating this or its actually true. I don’t want to apply for somewhere where my style isn’t really taught much...

Hey @Aa1904,

If you haven't taken art or textiles at A level then yes it'll be harder to get in however not impossible if you're able to dedicate lots of time to your portfolio. Many students on the fashion design courses have done foundations before progressing onto BA. This gives you another year to develop your portfolio. You can do this at most local colleges or at CSM. Check out the CSM foundation here.

Were you requested to upload a portfolio? I still haven’t heard back and quite nervous about it...
What is the limit in pebble?
Hi, I applied to the fine art courses at csm and Chelsea. I’m beyond nervous that I won’t get in because I heard that they are very competitive 😭 I’m currently studying a UAL foundation diploma in art at my local college and my A level grades were A*, Distinction*, Distinction *.

Hello @lafontaine

The course you're looking it is very specialist, so I would advise you to contact the college directly to get the best advice for a postgraduate application in this field. MA Arts and Lifestyle Journalism has an Open Day coming up on 15 February 2021 so I would definitely recommend signing up too - this event should cover application advice.

Best wishes,

hiya! i’m applying from the uk and i’m taking art, psychology and history at a-level. i submitted my portfolios to two different ual courses last week (camberwell ba graphic design lcc graphic and media design) and received an invitation to interview on 9/12 for camberwell today. lcc is my top choice but they don’t have interviews, so i just have to wait and see if i get an offer, but worst case scenario i reapply next year after my gap year

So I applied for Graphic & Media Design at LCC and I didn’t realise it was such a popular course😭 I’m so anxious because it’s my top choice and I really want to study it. I sent off my portfolio and people keep on saying LCC doesn’t give out interviews, extremely anxious?! Lol.
