Hehe, yes Tim I do use the student room, although not to the extent that you do by the looks of it! And yes, I COULD use Lucy Cav if it weren't for the fact they only serve one meal a day and not even every day. Also I just don't like Lucy Cav and never have, hence me moving out. I'd much rather eat somewhere with a better atmosphere and where I know more people.

Everyone else - thanks for the input - it's really helpful - I guess I'll just give it a go and see what happens! Thanks :-)

No you can't. We have a brass plaque outside the Ward Library prohibiting it, and our librarians spot strangers instantly. I've been allowed to escort friends in to give them a tour, as long as I satisfied the librarians that they were coming straight out again.

Conversely, I have more luck getting people in un-noticed after working hours, when they won't be spotted by a full time librarian. Out of hours, post-grads or other students (such as my college brother) man the library, and are less attentive or more easy going.

That is very odd and draconian. I use lots of different college libraries (admittedly never Peterhouse) and have never had a problem. I might have to try Peterhouse, just for a laugh...

Conversely I always assumed that other libraries were the same as Ward, and never dared to try them out :s-smilie:

Wow... you actually have librarians?

All our libraries are card-access, self-service ones.

We have one 'librarian' who orders books for us.. and presumably puts them back, but she's like our other librarians... invisible

...okaaaaay. I'm sensing, here, more than a little ignorance re: what librarians actually do...
