As a current applicant to Cambridge's Part iii MAST who checks the Applicant Portal every minute, I found this thread of the last year (https://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/showthread.php?t=6339548) very interesting. Maybe we can start such a thread this year again

As far as I know, everyone is still under review by the department

I'm also a fourth year MMath student right now, so hopefully it will boost my chances of getting in since I'm already taking courses comparable to ones in Part III.

Out of interest, why didn't you apply in the third year?

Out of interest, why didn't you apply in the third year?

1. My 2nd year grades weren't that great (65% compared to 83% in 3rd year).

2. My mathematical interests have changed since when I was starting third year. While Warwick has a lot of 4th year modules which are comparable to Part III courses, they don't really have any which are in my area of interest.

Which area? (current warwick student looking to apply next year) Wish you luck on your application!

Algebraic geometry and algebraic number theory. Warwick's two algebraic geometry modules (Algebraic Curves and Algebraic Geometry) roughly cover Part II Algebraic Geometry and a little bit of Part III Algebraic Geometry. Also there aren't any 4th year modules which are a continuation of 3rd year Algebraic Number Theory. I suppose if I took Algebraic Geometry and Algebraic Curves in my third year then I would have had the prerequisites for Part III, but I was more into analysis at the time and Warwick has a pretty good choice of 4th year analysis modules.

Thanks, and good luck to you next year .

About to Apply for an MASt in Physics, college of preference being Peterhouse.

My main worry with my application is my 2nd year grades - averaging at 67% at just the competitive margin, from exams I took in rather tenuous circumstances tbf. Although I'm predicted a 1st this year I'm worried how this might affect my application. Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

- Didn't check when it changed, but currently under review by departmentNot gonna lie I am very worried I keep checking everyday now.

My grades are good and I done some summer research project and now a final year project but they were in slightly different areas to what I am interested in and put down as career goals on my application.

It is reassuring that most of us are still at the Department stage

Though, it would be nice if at least something happened

I think you're pretty much in! =)
Btw, why do they take sooo long? The wait is killing me.

That's awesome, thanks!

Yeah it's definitely frustrating. Better than Imperial though, I've had a completed (with references) application there since October, and I still have not had a single update!

No, for Part iii there are no interviews. Or do I miss something?
