Catered or Self-catered?

Hi,

So, I know accommodation applications don't open for a while yet but I was wondering if anyone had experience in either the self-catered or catered accommodations on the Bishop Otter campus?

I'm currently debating over which one I'd like to put as my top choice in a few months when accommodation opens.

On the one hand, I like the fact that self-catered has a little bit of social space in the kitchen and is only shared between 4 people. I also do enjoy cooking once I'm comfortable.

On the other hand, I know from experience that I can struggle with actually making myself food and ensuring that I eat well enough, especially when I'm in a new environment/having to use the space to do that with people I don't really know yet around. Being catered would significantly shrink that problem and mean that I know I'll be able to get decent food. Plus, I can also get quite stressed shopping so being able to use the cafeteria for most meals would hopefully reduce that stress because I'd only have to do much smaller shops.

The main reasons why I'm sort of leaning away from catered, despite that, at the moment is because:
a) I've not met anyone else yet on chats who'd like catered and I don't know what the environment would be like living with people who didn't actually want that option (if that is what ended up happening)
b) I can also get stressed ordering food and I worry on some days I may still end up missing meals because of that (though, I suppose ensuring I also have some easy foods in my flat could help circumvent that being an issue)
c) according to the website catered has 'Facilities shared between no more than 6 people' and the bigger the flat the more stressful this all feels because, whilst I like being able to socialise, I am very quiet

So, I was wondering if anyone had any more information or experience that my help me think this through? Again, I know accommodation doesn't open for a while yet but I have a tendency to think things over quite a lot.
