Travelling to uni

I’m starting in this year in treforest uni , I’m doing the creative and therapeutic arts course. I currently live in Swansea and planning to travel to uni everyday. Has anyone else done this , is it cheaper than living in halls and roughly do they know how much it costs. Really worrying about what to do any help would be appreciated.

@HollieMckrill, that's a great course to study. The cost of halls on our Treforest Campus ranges from £95 to £132 per week, depending on which accommodation you choose. Many students who live in Swansea travel in each day to study with us, it might be a 1 1/2 round trip by car, train may be quicker. Do you know how many days you are likely to be on campus each week? I guess it might be useful to estimate the cost of fuel and time, compared to the cost of living in halls? I hope this helps. Please let me know if I can help further Rebecca  PS our halls are now open for applications. Good luck

I haven’t found out how many days I will be in college yet. I would prefer to stay home but I’m not sure of the cost of both. I’ll have to plan and see which one would be more beneficial. Thankyou

Hi @HollieMckrill, I have just asked our admissions department if they know how many days you would be expected to attend university in your first year. Once I receive a reply, I will get back to you. Thanks Rebecca

Hi @HollieMckrill, here is the advice I have just received from our admissions department. This guidance is subject to restrictions being lifted by the Welsh Government regarding the move to more on campus learning in September, but hopefully will give you some idea. The 'normal' taught timetable is 2 days a week, 10-3 ish. But then they have their own studio space that they can use outside of this, plus dark rooms and printing rooms and other specialist equipment they have access to use. Then there are also the placements but they can try and organise those as close as possible to where they live. If you have any further queries, please do let me know Rebecca.
