Politics, Sociology, Social Policy - how similar, how different?

Trying to help my daughter understand the difference

She is doing politics A level, Sociology subjects weren't an option (and I have never studied them), so we cant compare

We have been looking at Politics and IR Uni courses mostly but in the Social and Political Science courses some of the Sociology / Social Policy modules look quite interesting to her (eg Crime and punishment, Poverty inequality and the welfare state etc)

In terms of career, there isn't a clear direction in mind, more an intent to keep options open. Obviously as a parent I am keen to ensure good employability (and do have a concern that sociology is perceived differently to politics by some employers)
