I'm looking into travelling to Vietnam on my own but I would rather stay in luxury accommodation compared to hostels and so on. Is their plenty to do in Hanoi for a week?

I was thinking maybe Hanoi for a few days and Ho Chi Minh City for a few days.

Buy or borrow a guidebook for Vietnam - Rough Guide or Lonely Planet are the best.

Look on booking.com for accommodation. The above guidebooks also suggest accommodation for different budgets.
Vietnam is a big country with so many places to go, Hanoi is good for like 3 days, but try to see Ha Long Bay and Sapa in the north too. Nah Trang, Phi Quock, Hoi Ann and Ho Chi Minh City also worth visiting. You could do a good 2/3 week trip seeing these places. Or maybe look for tours to see as many places as possible.
Booking/ Agoda site is good for finding an accommodation in each location.

I think the OP will have visited Vitenam by now - the thread is a year old.
