Got an offer from Surrey too. Still haven’t heard back from HK yet, hopefully soon 🤞.

I emailed them the other day and they said they still have interviews until the end of February - so we should hear back by the end of feb/start of march. it’s so horrible waiting though! 😭☺️

I’m going to the applicant day. It’s three hours from me, so not terrible.

still a little bit far though haha! is surrey your first choice? ☺️

Ahh same!!! I got rejected from my other choices so I've now firmed surrey, but I agree its an amazing uni and the main thing is that you get a vet degree at the end of it haha, so happy to get an offer for any vet school! But fingers crossed you get an offer from h&k they are both great unis as well. Hopefully I'll see you at the offer day?

congrats on your offer!! it’s such a difficult course to get into that we should be so proud to get one offer. it’s a strange feeling - when all my friends have got 5/5 offers and i’m here with 1, but let’s be honest, vet is a tough course to get in to! 😂

yeah, hopefully! i honestly don’t know what to expect for the offer day - hopefully it’ll be fun!

Hi! I wanted to mention that while living in Surrey, especially close to London, can be more expensive compared to other universities, there are ways to manage costs. Accommodation type and lifestyle expenses can greatly affect expenses. In my 2nd year house I paid £600 + bills, £430 + bills in my 3rd year, and £500 + bills now, so it can really vary.

There are many part-time job opportunities (though your course is pretty full on) and support services available to help manage finances. There are also union campaigns to help with the cost of living situation - lots of free lunches and hot drinks!

Hope this helps,
Sam

Hi! I was wondering if you’d be able to give me any info on price of living in Surrey? My parent’s big concern is that its going to be more expensive than other uni’s due to being so close to London! is this true? ☺️
Hi Sam. How often did you need to travel to Stag Hill campus from Manor Park i.e. for societies, clubs or facilities? Do you feel the facilities on Manor Park are good e.g. study spaces and catering? Thanks!

Hello,

Congratulations on receiving an offer to study Veterinary Medicine at the University of Surrey! It's great to hear that you're excited about the opportunity and that you liked the campus and surrounding area. Being 5 hours away from home can be a big change, but it's also a great opportunity to gain independence and new experiences. I hope that your transition to university goes smoothly, and I wish you all the best with your course!

Although I don't study Veterinary Medicine myself, I have several friends who do, so I'd be happy with any questions you may have. If you need any help or advice on general university-related matters too, please let me know

Thanks,

Hi, I'm not a vet student at Surrey but have friends who are. I do economics myself!

From what I understand, the vet school has study spaces available. So from a studying perspective you wouldn't need to go to stag hill often.

Most sports use the facilities at the Sports park, which is directly next to manor park too. For societies that are more activity based/geared towards socialising they will be based on stag hill campus. Examples would be the F1 society or the arts and crafts society.

Manor park also has a recently renovated cafe I believe. The sports park has a coffee shop and also a bar that serves food too. There are more catering options available on the main campus however, and certainly more that are cheaper.

If you (or anyone else really) have any questions on studying at Surrey, feel free to dm me!

No, Liverpool is at the moment. That’s still around three hours away from me too.

I got the same response too. It is always terrible waiting 😬.
Thank you so much Sam for the detailed reply.

Hi there!

I lived on Manor Park during my first year but commuted to Stag Hill for classes. I would say that that apart from going over for lectures, I went maybe two or three evenings per week to hang out with friends and go to societies, but this was mainly because all my friends lived on Stag Hill. As most veterinary students will be on Manor Park, you won't be travelling to Stag Hill too much unless you want to use the bigger library and join societies that are based over there. Manor Park still has a cafe and bar for students to enjoy, as well as the Sports Park! You'll find yourself moving between the campuses all the time so I'd recommend living wherever your classes are.

I hope this was useful! Let me know if you have further questions.

Best wishes,
Alice, Final Year Student

Hey @JHCT

I am confused if you mean, in terms of lessons or accommodation?

All students in accomodations are randomly assigned between the 3 campus ( depending on which band there are rooms. They tend to separate courses as much as possible, so you have different people to socialise with.

If it is from lectures, most lessons are in Stag Hill campus.

I hope this helps!
Best wishes and good luck!!

Any law offer holders? I got an offer for Law with Technology!
Anyone interested in making a sc group or smt for 2023 surrey offer holders? It'll probs help people find others on their course, and get to know others.
There’s already one am on it
