AAT accounting level 2

I'm 18 years old and currently doing BTEC level 2 business in college. But I want to do accounting and because I didn't pass GCSE English I did not get into an accounting course. I heard that u can get to AAT accounting level 3 if you have BTEC business level 2 is that true or not?
If that is not true please let me know. I want to study AAT level 2. I believe that I am intellectually capable of doing this, however, I cannot get it funded and the course fees are around £800. I want to study AAT level 2 by myself at the lowest cost possible do I need to register with AAT and the course provider both? Do I need a course provider? And if I need can you suggest any low price course provider. Any advice would be appreciated.
