Sheffield Uni accomodation self selection

Hi, it looks like only a very limited amount of buildings and rooms are available on self-selection (e.g. no Frogatt or Yarncliffe). Do they become available later, or is there any other reason?

Also, if you select a room via self-selection, will you have to live in that exact room, or will you just be allocated a similar room later on?

in my experience, rooms keep on becoming available based on acceptance and rejection etc. so you might hv to keep checking. usually u r allocated a room (guaranteed, if you are in first year undergraduate course). However, once you reach there, and have issues with the room, you can request a change.

my change of room was requested as there was issue with water supply line in the bathroom.
