is it likely that the media of crime will come up as a 30 marker question?

because i just don't understand it at all :frown:

highly doubt it i think media has come up before many times in like 10 mark questions etc

Does anyone think for theory that functionalism could turn up?
I hate functionalism theory and I want to priotise feminsm and The science debates right now.

What do you guys reckon, has it came up before where I may have more of a chance of getting away with not revising it as much as the other ones?

Came up last year but I feel like cause the exams this year as been abit easier and weird ,so you might get a question on the general perspective like realism ,where you can hopefully compared each perspectives against ranch other ,(how all other perspectives fail to see crime a a problem and how it should be tackled as realism would say where as functionalist are like that crime is inevitable and normal for society and how it positive as it brings social cohesion as people are re connected to condemn criminal … and how Crime is caused by strain due to general inequality … this is as Durkheim previous argued how modernisation has led to the society to become diverse and fragmented ….then talk about Marxism and crime being criminogenic

I think func and feminism are most likely. Science as a 20 would be horrible so hoping for feminism acc for theories and methods.

Hi, how do you answer methods questions in this paper? If the question was 'Applying material from the item and your knowledge, evaluate the advantages of using structured interviews in sociological research.', would you answer this question the same as in the education topic just explaining and evaluating a list of advantages and disadvantages?

Yes it’s the same as in the education topic- you just won’t be asked to apply it in context

i would do 3 paras on left and 3 on right. you could a para each about relative dep, marginalisation etc then for the right paras on rational choice, biological factors and then you could evaluate at the end of each para and weigh up which realist theory. this is what i would probs do anyway.

if it was a general question on realism, i would probably start by generally stating their beliefs and the thinkers within that ( so left realism fundamentally believes in factors like relative deprivation, marginalisation etc being the cause of crime, whereas right realism is more in relation to socialisation, ideas like underclass by murray and clarkes cost-benefit analysis ) , i would then say the repercussions of these beliefs within the next paragraphs, so how it influences their perception and approaches to punishment and prevention so probably 2-3 paragraphs on this , but there are a lot of ways of approaching an essay on this because there's a lot within each perspective

but don't get too hung up about it being the 30 mark because it might not be, everyone thought the 30 mark on education was going to be globalisation and nobody i saw actually predicted what is was going to be
