A level Maths help!!

Could someone please explain this formula from the formula booklet for A level maths? I have never seen this before, and am not sure what this means

if you do log base 5 of 25 you get 2.
5 is a, 25 is x
lets say b is 10 (can be any number)
log base 10 of 25 over log base 10 of 5 also = 2

ive never used this but thats what its saying

One useful thing is if you are asked to compute, say, log_2(7), you can input on your calculator "log(7)/log(2)".
not trying to be sarcastic or anything but actually wondering - why wouldn't you just put log_2(7) into your calculator

Can you? Well my 10-year-old calculator can't. Oh technology.
