The Student Room Group

new school

I'm transferring to a new school in september and im quite nervous about making new friends and joining a new friend group :// im a introverted and shy person so sometimes i just naturally go quiet and can't find new things to talk about which makes conversations kind of hard :||| i really am trying to improve my socialising skills by being more friendly by smiling more and showing that im listening to people, but the hard part of actually saying things and starting convos still stress me out lmao it doesn't help that i only moved to uk two years ago so im still slightly clueless about the culture here and what ppl like to talk about ;-; tho i really want a friend group in this new school cos its a new beginning for me after all but i also know that its rly hard to just join one ;-; does anyone pls have some advice on making friends and joining an already established friend group?

Take the initiative. I know its sooo hard to actually do it than say it but like these new classmates won't mind u butting in their friendship group if u manage to strike a conversation with anyone within the group.
To continue a convo u could ask them to give u a tour of the skl that way u can talk to them more and ask questions which will eventually lead u to hanging out with the group in lunch times and hopefully become friends.
Finding common topics to talk about is quite hard but its worth asking about any music/TV shows/kdramas.
what year are you in
