Morley College (Chelsea Centre)

Is anyone studying a course at Morley College in Chelsea? thinking of doing UAL art & design, wondering what the college is like? and how friendly/easy it is to make friends?

Hi. My DD is there now. In terms of making friends, it’s a small year size and she made friends quickly. It’s a nice location and facilities are good. But she’s not sure she’d recommend an art foundation - if the idea is to get a better than A level portfolio together it doesn’t do that - she’s still doing her rotations and they don’t really specialise until after Christmas- too late to get a specialised portfolio for applications. But you do explore other things, though not as in depth as she would have liked. She’s done sculpture, life drawing, printing and now photography. But if you know what you want to study at degree level go straight to it or spend your gap year doing something else. The be honest I haven’t heard great things about the FAD at UAL Camberwell or CSM either - though some love it! I think FAD is sold as a ‘way to explore your creativity’ without the tick boxing of A level art, but she says you still have to do what the teachers tell you. Might be more independent work when they do their last project.
