Which Tea Brand is the best?

From Yorkshire to Lipton to PG to Tetley to any brand, which brand of tea is the best?

Also how do you make your tea or ice tea?

I personally don't drink tea but I do know how to make it and I make it.

I personally:
1. Boil water in kettle
2. Add teabag to mug
3. Add boiled water to mug, stir of course
4. Take teabag out then add milk, stir again of course
5. Add sugar or honey or nothing.

Weird question from me but yeah also heard that some people make their tea in the microwave :afraid:.

Funnily enough I was just reading about people boiling water in microwaves and apparently it's bad: https://www.animations.physics.unsw.edu.au/jw/superheating.htm

So yeah. Something to avoid

I used to prefer earl grey tea (usually twinings), then I got a bit sick of it and went to PG tips, then worked in a job where most were northerners and we always had Yorkshire tea which has put me onto that now.

I do love iced tea though which will almost invariably be the Liptons brand, but that's basically a completely different drink in my mind.

I don't trust heating water in the microwave, I need a kettle. If there's no kettle then I guess that a stove is fine.

Ice tea is still a type of tea but definitely not the first thing to spring to mind when people say "tea" in my opinion.
I did a randomised, double-blind, controlled test of PG Tips vs Yorkshire Gold... and unfortunately Yorkshire Gold won.

Why is it unfortunate?

Fair. I've never made tea with Yorkshire and I have no idea how the price compares to other tea brands.

Don't you ever use a teapot?

Nope. I make tea for others (mainly one person) in a mug and that's pretty much it. I don't drink tea or coffee.

PG Tips would definitely be my favourite, too . A family member once bought back a bag of tea from Sri Lanka, and that was the best I ever tasted, unfortunately I never found out what type it was, and it haunts me to this day haha.

When I make tea, I boil the water in the kettle, add a teabag and sugar to the mug (or just sugar if making a pot), then add the water, stir, add milk, test and remove the teabag to try and get it precisely right.

And also, boiling water in the microwave is to me an abomination, a truly heinous crime. I will never be swayed on this

Yesss someone get’s it. I was annoyed when my only option to heat water was in the microwave, I just said forget it I’m not heating up water at all and I’m not wasting money on a pot that would have no use afterwards.

I know that in some countruse kettle/hot water despenser isn’t the norm but a kettle can be really cheap and efficient, it’s multipurpose.

I wouldn’t heat my water in the microwave but that’s just me.
