uni of salford or mmu for software engineering?

i want to study software engineering for my undergraduate degree and i’m trying to decide between uni of salford and mmu just to narrow down my choices of the unis closest to where i live. i’d like to move out and live in the dorms so social life is just as important to me as the education.

Hey @niarhmed!

Fab to know you're considering us for your uni! I'd say the most important thing about choosing a University is choosing the one you'll feel happiest at. I know this sounds a little odd, but if you're going to a university you're genuinely excited for it'll make studying there for three years much easier! I'd say start by comparing our modules and teaching - you can take a look on our websites to do this, as we're both quite descriptive on our courses! This is a great way to see if one of us has particular modules you prefer, or ones that you think sound more interesting. I'd also say take a look on our website at where you'll be studying - there's lots of info on our Science, Engineering and Environment school on our website, which can help with seeing if you can actually imagine yourself studying here.

I'd also take a look at the area - we're obviously both dead close to the city centre, so you'll get the chance to spend lots of time in the city no matter which university you choose! Our accommodation is based either on or dead close by to our main campus (where software eng is taught) so you'll have lots of chance to socialise on campus too. I'd recommend looking at societies too - there a great way to get to know a huge range of people across the uni. You can find out more info here on these

Please let me know if you have any queries - always more than happy to advise!
All the best in your decision making - remember, choose what makes you happiest!
