It's a joke isn't it. My daughter has similar stats with a 31 in LNAT. She has an offer from Durham but has been waiting for a Bristol offer since late November and been put on hold twice. I'm encouraging her to withdraw now as they're wasting everybody's time

Or they are taking the time to make sure that each application is given the same consideration to make sure that unconscious bias doesn’t false the results, and they don’t just take the LNAT score as gospel and re read the essays to see if the style and approach fits with their teaching method. Predicted grades are often light years away from achieved grades so they don’t take them as 100% gospel and really do examine each applicants file. So not a joke at all….

I understand withdrawing if she’s certain she doesn’t want to go there & if it’s stressing you out abt finding accommodation etc for her preferred unis but otherwise there’s no harm in waiting a little longer!

I should explain. My daughter has been dealing with a lot of personal/health issues over the past 18 months. The repeated 'on hold' messages are not helping. She has Durham.which she prefers and Nottingham who are opening their accomodation applications next week. It's stressing her out that Bristol are pushing this further down the road. Maybe it shouldn't, but it is.
I'm encouraging her to withdraw as she's very unlikely to accept it anyway and she has a better (for her) offer from Durham already
As a parent I don't like what all this waiting is doing to her. I'm not suggesting shes better than anybody else so how dare they not snap her up immediately etc... but, compared to where we are now we'd both have preferred a straight out rejection.

That's exactly the position she's in. It's Durham first, then York insurance. She's not in a good place at the moment and really confused as to what to do. I'm encouraging her to drop Bristol, not from a controlling 'Tiger mum' position, but so she can move o with revision etc. The last thing anybody needs is to be dealing with decisions in the middle of exams

That’s what they want people to do. Reduces the need for them to make a decision…

I am sorry she has been dealing with this rough scenario for unbearably long. This scenario kind of rhymes with “Justice delayed is justice denied.” I do not mean to say that she won't be getting that offer at all. As far as what I have heard, Bristol is pretty expensive. Maybe considering the other choices will be a good decision because it's kind of the situation, I have often heard of, where people who were rejected by Oxbridge often end up in places where, after graduation, they feel happy and think that redirection was indeed the best choice.

Whatever happens, she shouldn't feel pressured by anything and, you know, look forward to getting what she wants ultimately. There's also a UCAS clearing facility where she may contact other unis and get a place, just in case. I am not saying that she shouldn't go for Bristol, but what I mean is that this journey should be dealt with healthily, for every cloud has a silver lining.

Wishing her the best😄!

Thank you
That's a very thoughtful reply. Durham was always her top choice so we're happy with that offer. We are 5 hours away from bristol so the prospect of a rushed open day just before exams is not appealing especially if she (as I'd expect tbh) still prefer Durham
My parents perspective, given her current state, is to get her grades and reapply next year which should hopefully be less stressful. But im old and mumsy so she'll not do that 🤭
Good luck with your exams

Yes that makes sense! Hope everything works out for her

Been on hold for Biochem since Feb 6th. A*AA predicted. Is it over for me and a rejection inevitable?

It’s never over till you see it in black and white. Stay positive- l’m sure there are plenty of other brilliant uni’s that would swipe a student with predictions like this.
Plus you might save a neat penny because Bristol is a pretty expensive student city l hear.
Best of luck, no matter.

Got another email today saying I am still on hold. Originally recieved a hold email in November. I applied to International Relations and Politics but I have heard that it takes them a while to send out offers so I was expecting to hear back sometime this month. Does this mean I missed the first round of offers??

Any news?
I’ve had two ‘hold’ emails now too for IR and politics. The wait is dreadful, right?

I reckon ur chances are probably resting on the quality of your essay
Eewww. So l finaaaaally heard back from Bristol regarding my IR & Politics application. They have thrown a spanner in the works and recommended that l apply for Social Policy instead.
So, not a total rejection and l do seem to excel in Sociology but l’ve been studying the topic since GCSE and really fancied a change.
Is there any difference between Social Policy and Sociology?
Advice and thoughts please?
Furthermore, despite me being on hold for months- l only have two weeks to decline/confirm 🙃🤔
