A level year 12 job placements

Our sixth form said that we need to find some job placements before half term ready for December when we do them for 2 weeks. I am interested in computer science and anything related particularly software engineering in London. Our school said we need to be independent and find work on our own and I tried looking on indeed etc but I'm so lost. Can someone please recommend me some websites where I can actually find some school work?

Are there software companies or firms near you? Do they seem like the places you're interested in? Maybe go look on their websites and find the contact info and ask/email them if they'll take on students who are interested. If you never ask you never know.
