Ideas for a poster presentation

I’m in my last year of nursing and one of the exams are what you would change in healthcare? It has to be a nursing intervention and I would like some ideas please, preferably an easy topic as I only have ten minutes to present and 15 minutes to answer any questions I also have to provide evidence for this through research so maybe something that could be actually done and not something that we know needs changing but nothings being done about it

Is there anything that you've seen or felt strongly about during your studies that you could look into? That way you are talking about something you have been part of or confident about which would help with the presentation and questions.

You could look at increasing the workforce as a positive change in healthcare (which I know is something we all know needs changing but you could look at interventions in schools to raise awareness of what a nurse actually does and the impact of nurses to support school students when choosing GCSE/A Level subjects etc)?

Try not to think too big, even the smallest of changes can be a positive change and might make it easier to plan too

I hope that helps!

Something you can change in healthcare is definitely more staff required, staffing levels should perhaps be the same amount of nurses on the ward even when some staff are away for there breaks so that the safety of patients are kept within safety levels 😔 incase of a emergency issue with someone.

What was your favourite placement over the last three years as perhaps write something about how much you enjoyed it.
For example - say you enjoyed doing renal placement then you can find lots of research about that particular specialist area or ENT.

Unfortunately you will know that nobody else can give you any exact details for what to write about due to fairness to all the other students nurses who are in the same situation as yourself. You don't want to stand up and read your information out to find out there's perhaps another few people with same information as yourself.

Hi,

Thank you for replying, it has to be a nursing intervention that could realistically be changed in an hospital setting such wearing tabbards during meds round, when ideas were suggested, our lecturer did rip the ideas to shred, im trying to think of an easy but realistic idea that i can answer questions on however i cant think of any

I did think on doing staffing issues but theres not much we can do to change on that, our poster has to be mainly evidence based and i have tried research but not getting anywhere

You are 🤗

That's not good that you haven't enjoyed your placements so far as you should have been sort of enjoying something from them.

Good thing for you looking at what you said is that you have been working as a HCA which I would imagine you learnt lots from doing this. So you have at least got some experience.

So you have a whole year bed you finally qualify so hopefully by then you'll have at least enjoyed a placement.

Obviously you must have been doing something right to get to your final year which means you learned things.

I wouldn't be worrying about anything when you finally qualify as you'll be under some sort of supervision for up to a year so hopefully by then you'll have gained more experience working alongside the already qualified nurses.
It can be daunting and bit scary for a newly qualified nurse but you'll be absolutely fine when you are working with other qualified nurses.

Talking about wearing tabbards/ aprons when doing medication rounds we have been doing this for some time now with aprons having on it - nurses on drugs round don't disturb. This has been policy for years with my health board that nurses wear tabbards/ aprons when doing medication rounds.

Your lectures should be saying to yous well done for such a good idea for nurses to wear tabbards during Meds round.

Hope you will enjoy your final year and sort out your dissertation by the time it is due.
