how to improve mathematical skills and knowledge?

I've finished a level maths, and i will take the test in the May. What would I study in the winter holiday? Further math? other maths books or videos? SInce i want to apply maths for university, I want to learn more about math, especially deepening the understanding. Could you recommend some resources, or give me some suggestions?

Where do you want to apply? Some unis want A level F Maths ...

I would look at UKMT problems [free datatbase on here: https://www.drfrostmaths.com/worksheets.php?wdid=44]

NRICH: https://nrich.maths.org/students/post-16 [lots of suggestions]

My students enjoy books by Rob Eastaway which are easy to read - https://robeastaway.com/books
I'd say with recreational maths, go to youtube and watch some maths videos will do (and there are way too many to watch!).

Exams though, the main principle is to "just do". You rarely get good by just sitting down pondering for more than 15 minutes (for A-Levels stuff).

Revise/test your single maths ability just to keep it up and secure your grade.

Are you applying for maths for 2024 entry? (I know some schools do all of single in lower sixth and further in upper sixth) If you are, maybe learning some further maths will put you in a more comfortable place for your degree. If you're taking a gap year however, then learning further maths in order to complete the qualification in 2025 could be a good option and can show unis you aren't 'wasting' your gap year or 'losing' your mathematical ability.

Books on maths are always great as you can cater them to specific areas you're interested in: https://nrich.maths.org/books has a great compilation of books to try!

Maths on YouTube is always a great way to stay keen in maths and often shows how many different ways A-level/GCSE maths can be done - 3brown1blue is a great starting point.
