French Study help (Writing and Speaking)

Hi everyone, I just wanted to ask you all if you do GCSE french and got a decent grade, could you tell me how to expand on writing and how to get better at speaking. Both of these parts are really hard and i want higher grades like 6 or 7 for example. The listening & reading component are easy so I don't want to ask for that. My only question is Is speaking exam timed?
