I'm a current CSM foundation student, QUOTE]

Hey ive been accepted onto the foundation there and im really want to go but how do you feel about CSM?
Have you enjoyed it and feel that they have pushed to be a better artist!
Also do you get your own spaces to work in and leave work there?
Do you live in halls?
Just wondering if you could give me you views on the place?
Thanks

Congrats on your acceptance.
Personally I found the studios to be really overcrowded, but this is apparently the same with all UAL foundations. There is not a whole lot of tutor contact, and the facilities are very old. There are lockers and storage for portfolios etc, but you need to keep an eye on your things or they can get damaged with so many students using the space.

I can do a lot of work at home, like to work independently and don't need a lot of feedback or encouragement so it suits me. But it's not for everyone. They seem to push a few favoured students, and the rest get by pretty much on their own.

I don't live in halls, so I can't comment sorry. But the students who do seem to have a good time and organise fun things like evening drawing sessions in the common areas.

One thing to be aware of is that some of the CSM colleges are moving to a new building in Kings X in 2011 and that might be a bit disruptive in term 2/3.

Hope that helps a bit, gl!

Thanks for that info
I'm quite an independent worker too, so i guess i'll be alright *phew

But do they teach anything? becasue i would have no clue with graphic design and etc... ??

And about the move to KX...
do you think we would be made to help the move?? lol
Wouldn't it take "already limited" tutors' attention away even more...? :frown:

And finally... DO U ENJOY IT THERE?!?!?

I have felt the complete opposite to this, the first 4 weeks i found were crowded but tbh its the same at all UAL, but once in my own pathway i thought it was great and lots of room, i thought tutor time was very good, ive found it very helpful, and all staff are happy to help.

And just to point out.. there will always be favoured students it always happens wherever you go, but i haven't really felt that (perhaps it depends on what area you specialise in)

In general I am loving the foundation course, most people I know have said its great and in comparison to chelsea and LCC where i have heard really bad reviews for.

One thing i will say is that it is insanely competitive but i think thats what boosts people to work harder and harder.

No honestly i'm not i went into the area thinking oh god i'm **** compared to everyone else, but yes the tutor obviously likes 1/2 peoples work more but never makes anyone else feel like they are inadequate!

Yep life's like that for sure  On my course, some students who were used to having a lot of direction and motivation from tutors, didn't cope as well when they didn't have so much attention. Just something to be aware of.
A UAL representative in Malaysia told me that the foundation course at LCC has more direction, but I don't know if that's just because there are less students at LCC..

From what I saw, they send the rejection letters first, that way, people can apply for clearing more quickly I think...as it's first there first served apparently...but i can't really say for sure...I'm mostly guessing from what happened to my friends and me.
All the people I know who got their letters before me (about a week before) got rejected...I got my letter a week ago or so and got accepted. But maybe it's random...

Don't worry too much =)
take that from someone who kills herself worrying about everything and anything...

=p

good luck
i sent my application form for the foundation art course in central saint martins a few days ago, does anyone know how long it takes for them to get back to us to inform us if we got an portfolio review or not?? i just hate waiting and i was just curious.
