It is still interesting to see which way individual countries voted on the motion, and to discuss what that means about varying views on free speech around the globe, regardless of whether the motion has any legal ramifications or not.


Accepted - but to talk of them actually having an implication on us?
The fact that it's Islamic countries leading this says it all really.

Is Turkey a part of the 'Islamic countries' seeking to undermine free speech?

It would be interesting to find out their stance on this issue since they're seeking membership of the European Union. I remember that they refrained from voting for a General Assembly resolution calling for a worldwide decriminalisation of homosexuality so I'm not optimistic to be honest - a measure supported by all countries in the EU.
