Didnt the buyers look at the feeback?

Of his 630 feedback, the first ~530 are 99% positive.

He scammed the 100 or so users in the space of 4 days.

Well it appears that he was a good seller for a while, everything except the most recent 75 or so (almost 600 feedbacks) are positive so I assume he was a good seller for a while as the good feedback goes from december 2003 up to december 2005.
I assume the guy just decided that he could take advantage of his good status to make some easy cash, and as all the negative feedback happens over the course of about 7 days I assume that the negative stuff had not appeared by the time that people ordered the stuff.

Ouch!

Will those poor buyers be able to get their money back?

This is exactly why I steer clear of Ebay. I know the majority will have a good experience but I doubt I will ever be comfortable with buying items that you cannot see or know they come from a reputable seller.
